Tutor Code of Conduct

What StudyCore expects from tutors when teaching, communicating and representing the service.

1. Purpose

This Tutor Code of Conduct explains what StudyCore expects from tutors.

Tutors must follow this code when applying, onboarding, teaching, communicating and representing StudyCore.

2. Professional behaviour

Tutors must:

  • •be punctual
  • •be prepared
  • •communicate clearly
  • •use appropriate language
  • •treat students and parents respectfully
  • •keep lessons focused on learning
  • •follow StudyCore policies
  • •submit lesson notes where required
  • •report issues quickly

3. Subject ability

Tutors must only teach subjects and levels they are approved to teach.

Tutors must be honest about qualifications, grades and experience.

Tutors must not exaggerate results, experience or ability.

4. Safeguarding

Tutors must follow StudyCore's Safeguarding Policy.

Tutors must immediately report safeguarding concerns to: safeguarding@studycoretutors.co.uk

Tutors must report if:

  • •a student discloses harm, abuse or neglect
  • •a student appears at risk
  • •a lesson becomes uncomfortable or inappropriate
  • •a parent or student behaves inappropriately
  • •the tutor is concerned about a student's welfare

5. Communication boundaries

Tutors must not:

  • •privately message students outside approved channels
  • •ask students for phone numbers, emails or social media
  • •add students on social media
  • •arrange private lessons outside StudyCore
  • •move communication to unapproved platforms
  • •contact parents privately to avoid StudyCore

If contact is needed, it should go through the parent or StudyCore admin-approved channels.

6. Lesson links

StudyCore/admin provides the lesson link.

Tutors must use the approved lesson link and must not create separate lesson links unless StudyCore has authorised it.

7. Recording

Tutors must not record lessons.

Recording is only allowed if StudyCore and the parent have agreed in writing.

8. Appropriate content

Tutors must not share inappropriate, offensive, sexual, discriminatory, violent or unrelated content.

Tutors must only use teaching materials suitable for the student's age and subject.

9. Equality and respect

Tutors must not discriminate against students, parents or staff.

Tutors must treat people fairly regardless of background, ability, sex, race, religion, disability or other protected characteristics.

10. Reliability

Tutors must keep their availability up to date.

If a tutor cannot attend a lesson, they must tell StudyCore as soon as possible.

Repeated lateness, cancellations or missed lessons may lead to removal from StudyCore.

11. Lateness

If a tutor is late, they must make up the missed time where possible.

Tutors will not be paid extra for making up time caused by their own lateness.

12. Lesson notes

After a lesson, tutors may be required to submit notes covering:

  • •topics covered
  • •strengths
  • •areas to improve
  • •homework or practice
  • •next steps

Lesson notes must be professional and parent-friendly.

13. Confidentiality

Tutors must keep student, parent and StudyCore information confidential.

Tutors must not share student information outside StudyCore unless required for safeguarding or legal reasons.

14. Pay and admin

Tutor pay, scheduling and role arrangements are handled separately through StudyCore's tutor onboarding and internal agreements.

Tutors must not discuss internal pay, business systems or other tutors' information with parents or students.

15. Breach of this code

If a tutor breaches this code, StudyCore may:

  • •issue a warning
  • •require further training
  • •cancel lessons
  • •pause tutor access
  • •remove the tutor
  • •report safeguarding concerns where appropriate
