2. These terms
These Terms of Service apply when you use the StudyCore website, create an account, request tutoring, apply to become a tutor, book a lesson, make a payment or use any StudyCore service.
By using StudyCore, you agree to these terms.
3. Service availability
StudyCore is currently available in the United Kingdom only.
Lessons are online only.
At launch, StudyCore focuses on GCSE Maths for Year 10, Year 11 and resit students. Other subjects may be added later.
4. Parent account holder
The parent or guardian is the account holder, payer and main contact.
Students do not need their own StudyCore account.
Parents are responsible for:
- •providing accurate information
- •selecting suitable availability
- •ensuring the student attends lessons
- •making payments
- •checking lesson details
- •supervising access to lesson links where appropriate
- •contacting StudyCore about issues or concerns
5. Tutor matching
StudyCore is not a public tutor marketplace where parents browse lots of tutor profiles.
Parents submit the student's subject, level, goals, struggles and availability. StudyCore then matches the student with a suitable tutor based on availability, subject and internal suitability checks.
Parents will normally see only limited tutor information, such as tutor first name, subject, lesson date and lesson time.
StudyCore may change a tutor if needed due to availability, reliability, safeguarding, illness, cancellation or operational reasons.
6. Tutors
StudyCore tutors are selected based on subject ability, academic achievement, communication skills, availability and onboarding checks.
Tutors may include high-achieving recent GCSE/A-Level students and young tutors who have performed strongly in relevant subjects.
StudyCore does not claim that all tutors are qualified teachers.
7. No guaranteed results
StudyCore aims to improve confidence, understanding, structure and exam preparation.
StudyCore does not guarantee:
- •a specific grade
- •a pass
- •a resit pass
- •exam success
- •school acceptance
- •improvement by a specific amount
- •results within a specific timeframe
Student progress depends on many factors, including attendance, effort, practice, starting level, exam performance and circumstances outside StudyCore's control.
8. Lesson length and pricing
At launch:
- •trial lesson: £15
- •standard 1-to-1 lesson: £39
- •lesson length: 1 hour
Prices may change in future, but the price shown at checkout will apply to that booking.
Lesson bundles and group lessons may be added later.
9. Booking and payment
Payment is made through Stripe.
A lesson is not fully confirmed until payment has been completed successfully.
After a tutor and lesson time have been matched, the parent can pay to confirm the lesson.
If payment fails or is cancelled, the lesson may remain unconfirmed.
10. Online lesson links
StudyCore provides or manages online lesson links, usually through Google Meet or a similar service.
The parent and tutor receive access to the same lesson link once the lesson is confirmed and the link is available.
The student joins through the parent's dashboard, email or parent-provided device/link.
11. Parent and student conduct
Parents and students must:
- •attend lessons on time
- •behave respectfully
- •not abuse, harass or discriminate against tutors
- •not share lesson links publicly
- •not record lessons unless agreed in writing
- •not contact tutors outside approved StudyCore channels
- •not request private tutoring arrangements outside StudyCore
StudyCore may cancel access if behaviour is unsafe, abusive or inappropriate.
12. Tutor conduct
Tutors must follow the Tutor Code of Conduct.
Tutors must not contact students privately outside StudyCore-approved channels.
Tutors must not record lessons unless StudyCore and the parent have agreed in writing.
13. Cancellations and rescheduling
Our cancellation and refund rules are set out in the Cancellation & Refund Policy.
In summary:
- •parents may request a reschedule with at least 24 hours' notice
- •cancellations within 24 hours are normally not refundable
- •student no-shows are normally not refundable or rescheduled
- •tutor cancellations will be rescheduled without extra charge, or refunded if necessary
This does not affect any statutory rights that cannot legally be excluded.
14. Technical problems
If a technical issue caused by StudyCore or the tutor prevents the lesson from taking place, StudyCore will normally offer a free reschedule.
If the issue is caused by the parent/student's internet, device, software or failure to join correctly, StudyCore will review the situation case by case.
15. Complaints
Parents can raise complaints by emailing: support@studycoretutors.co.uk
Safeguarding concerns should be sent to: safeguarding@studycoretutors.co.uk
We will review complaints fairly and may contact the parent, tutor and any relevant parties.
16. Safeguarding
StudyCore takes safeguarding seriously.
If there is a concern about student safety, tutor behaviour or inappropriate conduct, contact: safeguarding@studycoretutors.co.uk
If someone is in immediate danger, contact emergency services.
17. Website accounts
Users are responsible for keeping login details secure.
Users must not share accounts or attempt to access accounts, dashboards or information that does not belong to them.
18. Website availability
StudyCore aims to keep the website available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access.
We may update, maintain, pause or change the website as needed.
19. Changes to the service
StudyCore may update services, prices, pages, features, tutors, policies or availability over time.
Any changes will not affect lessons already paid for unless necessary for safety, legal or operational reasons.
